Answer

How to migrate from Trello to todo.bytesvibe

Short answer

Export your Trello board as JSON (or CSV per list), map Trello lists → todo.bytesvibe columns and cards → tasks, then bulk-import via CSV. Members, labels, and due dates carry over. Most teams finish a full workspace migration in under 15 minutes per board.

Time per board
≈ 10–15 minutes
Export format
Trello JSON or CSV per list
Import format
CSV (Title, Description, Status, Due, Assignee, Labels)
Carries over
Cards, lists, labels, due dates, members, comments (as description)

What maps to what

Trello and todo.bytesvibe both use a kanban model, so the mapping is direct — you're renaming, not re-thinking:

  • Trello board → todo.bytesvibe project.
  • Trello list (column) → todo.bytesvibe board column / status.
  • Trello card → todo.bytesvibe task.
  • Trello label → todo.bytesvibe tag.
  • Trello member → todo.bytesvibe workspace member (invite by email).
  • Trello checklist → todo.bytesvibe subtasks.
  • Trello comments & activity → appended to the task description on import.

Export your data from Trello

Trello offers two export paths. Use JSON if you want everything at once; use CSV per list if you're on the free plan and only need cards.

  • JSON (full board): Open the board → Show menu MorePrint and ExportExport as JSON. Save the file.
  • CSV (per list, free plan friendly): Open the list menu → Export list as CSV. Repeat for each column, or paste all rows into one spreadsheet.

If you have attachments in Trello cards, download them separately — Trello does not include the files themselves in the export, only the URLs.

Prepare your CSV for import

todo.bytesvibe accepts a plain CSV with these columns (extra columns are ignored):

Title, Description, Status, Due, Assignee, Labels
"Draft Q1 plan","Owner: Sam","In Progress","2026-08-01","sam@acme.co","planning|q1"
  • Status must match a column name in your target project ("To do", "In progress", "Done", or any custom column you've created).
  • Due uses ISO format (YYYY-MM-DD).
  • Assignee is the member's email — they must already be in the workspace.
  • Labels are pipe-separated; new labels are created on import.

Import into todo.bytesvibe

  1. Create a new project in todo.bytesvibe with columns matching your Trello lists.
  2. Invite your Trello members by email so assignee mapping works.
  3. Open the project's board view → menu → Import CSV.
  4. Upload your CSV. Preview the mapping, fix any warnings, then confirm.
  5. Spot-check 3 cards: due dates, labels, and assignees should all be attached.

What's better after you switch

  • List and calendar views built in — no Power-Ups. Every board also has a list view and a calendar view for the same tasks.
  • Unlimited boards on the free plan — Trello free caps workspaces at 10 boards; todo.bytesvibe does not cap.
  • One task inbox across every project — Trello makes you open each board to see what's assigned to you.
  • Docs next to the work — attach notes, briefs, and specs directly to a project.

Migrate a Trello board in 15 minutes

  1. 1

    Export from Trello

Open the board menu → More → Print and Export → Export as JSON. Or export each list as CSV on the free plan.

  2. 2

    Create the target project

In todo.bytesvibe, create a new project with columns that match your Trello lists (To do, In progress, Done, etc.).

  3. 3

    Invite your members

Add every Trello member to the workspace by email before importing so assignees map correctly.

  4. 4

    Prepare the CSV

Format columns as Title, Description, Status, Due, Assignee, Labels. Status must match a column name in the project.

  5. 5

    Import the CSV

Open the project board → ⋯ menu → Import CSV. Preview the mapping and confirm.

  6. 6

    Verify a few cards

Spot-check 3 cards for due dates, labels, and assignees to make sure the mapping worked.

Frequently asked

Can I import my Trello boards into todo.bytesvibe?

Yes. Export each Trello board as JSON or CSV, format it as Title, Description, Status, Due, Assignee, Labels, then use Import CSV on the target project. Cards, lists, labels, due dates, and members all carry over.

Do I need a paid Trello plan to export?

No. Trello's JSON export is available on the free plan for boards you own, and every list has an 'Export as CSV' option.

Will my Trello attachments transfer?

The links carry over inside the card description. To keep the files themselves, download attachments from Trello and re-upload them to the imported tasks.

What happens to Trello comments and activity?

Comments are appended to the task description as a timestamped history block. Activity events are not imported.

Can I migrate multiple Trello boards at once?

Yes. Import each board's CSV into its own todo.bytesvibe project. You can run several imports in parallel — there is no board cap on the free plan.

Is the migration reversible?

Your Trello boards are unchanged after export. If you want to go back, your original Trello data is still there — nothing is deleted on the Trello side by this process.
